Masters athletes outweighed age, 83 year old Vidyavati and 73 year old Rama stunned the youth

In the 45th Chandigarh State Athlete Meet organised by Masters Athletics Association, Masters athletes did not let age dominate them and displayed such zeal on the athletics field that even the youth were impressed by their passion.

Age is just a number and this statement has been proved time and again by people. Some people become old at the age of 18 and some are showing youthful passion at the age of 90. Time is a concept created by humans. At the age when most people take bed rest, at that age Masters athletes are sweating it out in the field and winning medals. Not only men but also women Masters athletes are showing their strength.

In the 45th Chandigarh State Athlete Meet organised by Masters Athletics Association, Masters athletes did not let age dominate them and displayed such zeal on the athletics field that even the youth were impressed by their passion. Masters Athlete was organised on Sunday at the Sports Complex in Sector-7. Masters athletes from various states of the country participated in it.

Sector-44 resident Vidyavati Sachdeva (83) won two gold medals while participating in the Masters Athletics Championship. She won these medals in 200 meter race and 3 kilometer walk. Masters athletes in men and women category participated in the event in different age groups. In this, long jump, high jump, 100 meter race, 200 meter race, 400 meter race, masters athletes from the age group of 35 to more than 85 years participated and won gold, silver and bronze medals.

Vidyavati Sachdeva said- Exercise to stay healthy

Sector-44 resident Vidyavati Sachdeva (83) has been participating in the Masters Athletics Championship. She has retired from BSNL. Her charm is intact at this age. She said that participating in such events keeps me young all the time. Vidyavati Sachdeva said that if you want to stay healthy in life, you should always keep exercising.

Rama Sharma is retired from the post of Superintendent

Rama Sharma (73), a resident of Sector-43, has retired from the post of Superintendent from the High Court. She has been participating in the Masters Athletics Championship for the last several years and winning medals. On Sunday, while participating in the Masters Athletics Championship, she won gold medals in 3 km and 100 m races. She said that fitness is maintained even at this age by participating in sports. Youths should also participate in some sport or the other.

Women’s category of 40 plus age group: Deepika came first, Harmani Kaur second and Ritu third.

35 plus age group: Gagandeep came first and Neelam second.

Satnam Kaur won in the 80 plus age group.

Paramjeet Kaur was the winner in the 75 plus age group.

3 km race

Men’s category of 45 plus: Joginder Pal came first, Sandeep Kakkar second, Harjeet Singh third.

40 plus men’s category: Satnam Singh became first and Gurinder became runner-up. After this, Baljinder Singh was the winner in 35 plus, Vipin Kumar second, Jaswinder Singh third.

3 Km Walk

Poonam Chahal first place in 3 km walk in 40 plus women’s category. Mohinder Pratap second, Daljit Singh third.

Parminder Kaur winner in long jump

Parminder Kaur became the winner in 30 plus women’s category. After this, Geeta was the winner in 35 plus. Jatinder Kaur was the winner in 40 plus and Neeraj Saini became runner-up. In 45 plus, Jasvir Kaur was first, Kiran second, Inderjit Kaur third and Gurinder Kaur third.

Discus Throw

75 plus category: Avtar Singh first, Surinder Singh second and Harshjit Singh third.

80 plus category: Ratan Singh first and Joginder Singh second.
