Bathinda. After the recent attack by terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the district administration had banned the sale of military uniforms in the district.
Now, following the instructions of the government, the district police has started checking the shops selling garments and military uniforms and those who stitch them under various police stations. Instructions were given to strictly follow the instructions issued by the government for the security of the country.
The police inspected the shops
At present, Bathinda is considered a sensitive area due to the presence of the largest military cantonment in Bathinda and strict security arrangements have been made. In this connection, Daljit Singh, in-charge of Police Station Cantt, which comes under the military cantonment, along with his team, inspected about half a dozen shops located in Baba Farid Nagar, Bibi Wala Chowk on Thursday.
During this, shopkeepers have been instructed to check the ID card of the soldiers purchasing military uniforms and goods before selling them, and to register their mobile number and name in the register. Police will check the records, action will be taken on negligence
There are strict instructions not to sell or stitch the said uniform to any civilian except soldiers. He told that he also checked the register and records of the shopkeepers and those shopkeepers who did not have a register have been instructed to buy and install the register. The district police will check the said record every week and if any shopkeeper is found to be negligent, action will be taken against him as per law.
Shopkeepers welcomed the police campaign
On the other hand, shopkeepers have welcomed the campaign and instructions of the administration and police. Most shopkeepers say that they have been following the instructions of the administration for a long time in view of the security of the country. They do not sell uniforms to any non-military person. For this, along with checking their ID card, mobile number and name are also being recorded in the register. On the other hand, if needed, they also contact the verification officer appointed by the army.
