Amritsar. The Special Cell of Amritsar (rural) police has arrested two members of a gang dealing in fake currency on Friday morning. Fake currency worth Rs 2 lakh, two pistols, 21 cartridges, two bikes and five mobiles have been recovered from the possession of the accused and a case has been registered at Lopoke police station.
DSP Maninder Singh has identified the arrested accused as Ashish Kumar, Kashmir Singh, resident of Tarn Taran city, Arshdeep Singh, Jashandeep Singh, resident of Lahori Mal village, Vishal and Karandeep Singh, resident of Islamabad.
Where was the fake currency to be disposed of?
The DSP said that Inspector Satwinder Singh of the Special Cell had received information that the said accused were preparing fake Indian currency. On this basis, the police party saw the six said accused coming on two bikes during the blockade in Lopoke area and signaled them to stop.
During the search, fake currency worth Rs 2 lakh, two pistols, 21 cartridges, five mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the accused. The accused have admitted that they were preparing and selling the said currency.
