Punjab Desk | Jalandhar:
Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh continues to face controversy over his upcoming film Sardaar Ji-3, featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Amid criticism, renowned Sufi singer and BJP ex-MP Hans Raj Hans came forward in support of Diljit during a press conference held at his residence in Jalandhar.
Hans Raj Hans defended Diljit Dosanjh and the film’s producers, calling them “humble and decent individuals.” Addressing the media, he said, “When Sardaar Ji-3 was shot, no one could foresee the current India-Pakistan tensions. Protesting against Diljit now is unjustified.”
🇮🇳 “Pakistan’s Government Is at Fault, Not Its People” – Hans Raj Hans
The former MP emphasized that the real issue lies with the Pakistani government, not the people. “I’ve been to Pakistan. I’ve met many citizens there who never wanted India and Pakistan to be divided. We have shared art, culture, and emotions. People on both sides are the same,” he said.
He further added, “Wherever there is war, it’s always the innocent who suffer. Some politicians take nations to the brink of conflict for political gains. We should pray for peace between both countries to prevent such human losses.”
🎥 Makers Clarify: Film Was Shot Before the Conflict
Saradar Ji-3 producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu had earlier clarified that the movie was shot well before the India-Pakistan tensions escalated. “Respecting Indian sentiments, the film will not be released in India. It will only be released overseas,” he said.
Diljit himself had announced earlier that the film would premiere only in North America, the UK, Canada, and the Middle East on June 27, 2025.
📲 Why the Trailer Was Not Posted on YouTube?
Interestingly, Diljit shared the film’s trailer only on Instagram and avoided releasing it on YouTube. This is due to strict policies after recent terror attacks, under which all Pakistani artists were removed from Indian YouTube channels. Any content featuring Pakistani actors was either blurred or removed entirely.
🎬 A Divided Internet: Art vs. National Sentiment
The film has reignited debate in the entertainment industry around artistic freedom, patriotism, and Indo-Pak collaborations. While some netizens criticized Diljit for collaborating with a Pakistani actress, others praised him for separating politics from art.
Prominent voices from the Punjabi music and film industry have also backed Diljit, stressing that “art has no borders.”
📌 Conclusion
As Sardaar Ji-3 gears up for its overseas release, the conversation around cross-border collaboration, censorship, and cultural diplomacy continues. Hans Raj Hans’ support for Diljit could help bring balanced public discourse to the forefront.
