Government work stalled in Punjab and Chandigarh! Read this before heading to the office…

Date:

To express their resentment regarding their demands and government policies, all government employees in Punjab and Chandigarh are observing a complete work stoppage and a one-day hunger strike on September 8. Consequently, if you are planning to visit a government office today for official work, you may face inconvenience. To ensure the success of this protest, a crucial joint meeting was held at the park near YPS Chowk in Mohali, led by the ‘Sajha Karamchari Manch Punjab’ and the ‘Punjab Karamchari-Pensioner Sajha Front’. Representatives from various employee organizations—including those from Chandigarh’s directorates, Mohali’s government offices, the Punjab Civil Secretariat, and the FCR Association—participated in the meeting and outlined the strategy for this intense agitation.

Appeal by Employee Organizations to All Staff
This action is being initiated in accordance with decisions made during a meeting with allied organizations in Ludhiana. A resolution was unanimously passed stating that on September 8, employees in all government offices, the Civil Secretariat, and FCR offices across Chandigarh and Mohali would report to work but completely halt all official duties. Additionally, representatives from employee organizations in every office will observe a symbolic one-day hunger strike. Employees have been instructed to demonstrate peacefully and in a disciplined manner—wearing black clothes or black badges—to voice their protest against the government. Specific responsibilities have been assigned to various employee organizations to ensure the success of this action and maximize employee participation. A special team of retired employees has also been formed to ensure the agitation succeeds at the grassroots level; this team will visit various offices on the day of the strike to review the proceedings and boost the employees’ morale. Employee organizations have appealed to all staff to demonstrate unity while avoiding any form of confrontation, provocation, or indiscipline, and to amplify the voice of this struggle through social media. The joint forum has sent a clear message that this battle is about the honor, self-respect, and constitutional rights of the entire workforce. Therefore, every employee should participate in this complete shutdown with total unity and firm resolve.

**Warning from Minister Aman Arora**
Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora has warned the employees planning to strike, stating that if the general public faces inconvenience due to the strike, the government will take action in accordance with the law. He has appealed to the employees to abandon the path of striking and resolve their issues through dialogue.
