Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to encourage the tourism industry in the state, the government has approved a project worth Rs 25 crore to enhance the facilities for lakhs of tourists visiting the Retreat on the Indo-Pak border. This will provide world-class facilities to tourists at the Attari border.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said that Attari border is one of the biggest tourist attractions in India. This project will be developed by the Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board in coordination with the Border Security Force and the National Highway Authority of India. The construction for this will start from the entrance and will be extended till the border, the total budget of which is Rs 24.65 crore.
He said that this project is expected to be completed in 9 months, which will be maintained by the concerned agency for the next 5 years. The works to be undertaken under the project include a huge Darshani Gate, vehicle check post, tourist information centre, shaded walkway with facilities, modern gallery, security check infrastructure and adventure zone.
The DC said that this project will be prepared to provide world class facilities at the Attari border, which will become a centre of attraction for the tourists coming to attend the Retreat ceremony held at the borders of both the countries.
