In Haryana, more than 900 patients suffering from serious and life-threatening diseases like hemophilia are not even able to get the necessary injections in government hospitals. On the PIL filed regarding this situation, the Punjab and Haryana High Court took a tough stand against the state government and ordered the government to take appropriate steps and file a reply within 10 days.
During the hearing on Thursday, the petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that no appropriate action was taken in this matter even after the court’s notice. A division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjeev Berry ordered the government to take appropriate steps and file a reply within 10 days.
In the petition, Palwal resident Vikas Sharma told the High Court that the government had also come up with a policy to provide free treatment to the patients of this disease. The patient has to be given an injection which is an anti-hemophilia dose. Its price in the market is around Rs 12 thousand. This injection is not available in most of the district hospitals of the state. The petition accuses the government of running away from the responsibility of providing free treatment. The court was appealed to issue appropriate orders to make the state pay attention to this serious issue.
