Congress MLA Maman Khan, accused in the famous cases of Nuh district of Haryana, has got a big relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court has put an interim stay on the proceedings of two cases going on against him till the next hearing.
The case was heard before a single bench of Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya. Senior advocates RS Cheema and Siddharth Bhukkal argued that the hearing of the cases registered in various FIRs against Maman Khan has been separated, while the trial of other co-accused is going on simultaneously. Maman Khan had earlier approached the High Court against the separation of the trial of two other FIRs in the case, but his petitions were rejected on 12 December 2024. Against this, a special leave petition has been filed in the Supreme Court, in which the decision has been reserved and the trial is currently stayed.
It was argued on behalf of the petitioner that when a similar issue is already pending in the Supreme Court, then the proceedings in other cases should also be postponed. The state government appeared and sought time to file a reply. The court fixed the next hearing date as October 30, 2025 and stayed the proceedings of Session Case No. 498 and 499 till then.
