Punjab Jail Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar took stock of the facilities being provided to prisoners and undertrials in the Central Jail located on Tajpur Road. He personally inspected the main facilities in the jail, including food services, sports and medical facilities, gymnasium, bakery, furniture workshop and other business units.
During this, Minister Bhullar interacted directly with the prisoners. He listened to their problems and grievances and assured their immediate solution. He also emphasized the commitment of the Punjab government to create an environment of rehabilitation in the state’s jails. The minister said that our aim is to transform the jails into real reform centers, where prisoners can acquire skills after release and join the mainstream of society as responsible citizens.
To further improve the rehabilitation environment, the Jail Minister announced several initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and opportunities in the jails. He also unveiled a plan to allocate additional funds to strengthen business units like bakery and furniture workshops here. These units provide opportunities for prisoners to learn valuable skills, instill a sense of purpose in them and focus on productive activities. By expanding these units, we will provide prisoners with skills that will help them ensure their livelihood after release. On the occasion, Jail Superintendent Kulwant Singh Sidhu and other officials gave the Jail Minister a tour of the premises.
