The victim girl’s father Harvinder Singh told the police that his daughter was married to Harpreet Singh, a resident of village Data in the year 2021. The accused NRI husband has been identified as Harpreet. It is being told that the accused and his family were harassing the girl for dowry since the marriage.
Shortly after the marriage, Harpreet returned to Canada, after which his parents started harassing the daughter-in-law. The victim’s father somehow arranged Rs 5 lakh, but the demand of the in-laws kept increasing. According to ASI Jagdeep Singh of Police Station Sadar Raikot, Harpreet Singh, who lives in Canada, is in an illicit relationship with another woman. He is constantly mentally harassing his wife to marry his girlfriend. After investigation, the police have registered a case against the accused husband Harpreet Singh, father Darshan Singh and mother Parminder Kaur. All three accused are said to be residents of village Data.
