An incident of tragic death of youths from Punjab who had gone to Mani Mahesh has come to light. According to the information received, 3 devotees died due to lack of oxygen during the ongoing Mani Mahesh Yatra in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. 2 youths died last night and one this morning.
The bodies are being brought to Bharmour for post-mortem by the Mount Training and NDRF team and further action is being taken. The deceased have been identified as Aman (age 18) resident of Pathankot, Rohit (age 18) resident of Gurdaspur and Anmol (age 26) resident of Gurdaspur. Aman was rescued from Kamal Kund last night, but he died in Gaurikund. Rohit died due to lack of oxygen on the Kugti track, while Anmol died in Dhancho at around 10 am today.
At present, the police have informed the families of the deceased youths and after their arrival, the bodies will be handed over after post-mortem. Bharmour SDM Kulbir Singh Rana said that all three devotees have lost their lives in the above incidents. Due to continuous heavy rains for the last 24 hours, the administration has temporarily stopped the Yatra. Passengers have been instructed to stay at safe places. Due to heavy rains, landslides have occurred at many places on the Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway, due to which the movement of vehicles has stopped. Due to this, a large number of passengers are stranded on the way.
It is worth noting that this time the Mani Mahesh Yatra is scheduled from 16 August to 31 August, but bad weather has hindered the Yatra. So far, 14 devotees have died during the Yatra due to lack of oxygen, falling stones and other accidents.
