Important news has come out for the people of Punjab. District Magistrate Ankurjit Singh, exercising the powers granted under the Indian Civil Security Code, has imposed a complete ban on any union or group blocking traffic on roads/intersections within the district limits and has directed that if any organization wants to hold a dharna, demonstration or agitation, it can do so at designated places after taking permission from the district administration.
The District Magistrate has said in the orders issued that during the dharnas and demonstrations held by various unions and organizations in support of their demands, traffic gets blocked on the main road of the city, Chandigarh Chowk, due to which people going to Jalandhar-Amritsar and Chandigarh have to face inconvenience. He said that during such jams, many sick and patients are extremely troubled. The District Magistrate informed that Dussehra Ground Nawanshahr under Sub-Division Nawanshahr, Village Gujrapur Kalan under Municipal Council Nawanshahr, Panchayat area of Gram Panchayat Village Puniyan for Sub-Division Banga and Municipal Sports Ground near Civil Hospital, Jagatpur Road, Sihana for Sub-Division Balachaur have been designated for the dharna-demonstration. He informed that slogans are raised on loudspeakers in Tehsil, SDM, DAC, which affects the work of government offices, therefore, playing loudspeakers at these places has also been banned and loudspeakers should be used only after taking permission at designated places.
Ban on bathing in Sutlej River and Bist Doab Canal
The District Magistrate has issued another order banning any person from bathing in Sutlej River and Bist Doab Canal within the district limits. According to the orders, if any person is found bathing at these places, appropriate action will be taken against him.
Ban on grazing of animals on the roadsides in cities/towns
Similarly, under another order, grazing of animals on the roadsides in cities/towns of the district has been banned. According to the orders issued by the District Magistrate, people leave buffaloes and cows on the sides of cities, towns and roads for fodder, which causes damage to people’s crops and plants growing on the roadsides. The District Magistrate said that in such a situation, disputes arise between farmers and cattle rearers and many times there is a fear of accidents due to cattle, which is very important to prevent.Order to landlords to provide details of tenants, servants and paying guests
District Magistrate Ankurjit Singh has issued orders to provide details of tenants, servants, paying guests, Nepali langari etc. living in the district to the police administration. He said that the landlords who have not yet provided this information can send the necessary information on the email provided by the district administration within a week.
Ban on putting up advertisements and hoardings on government buildings
The District Magistrate has banned putting up advertisements and hoardings on government buildings, private buildings, national highways, connecting roads and trees by any person without the permission of the concerned departments and building owners. According to the orders, these advertisements and hoardings distract people on the road and there is a fear of accidents, due to which these orders have been issued. These orders will remain in force till October 23.
