Strict action by Municipal Corporation, orders given to officers

Date:

On the instructions of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill, Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh held a meeting with the senior officials of the Health Department. During this, the Additional Commissioner has instructed all the officers and employees of the Health Department to go above and beyond their duty hours and make every possible effort for better cleanliness in the city.

Apart from this, action was asked to be taken to make the citizens aware and impose a complete ban on the use of single-use plastic in the city. During the meeting, the officials said that all the area Chief Sanitary Inspectors and Sanitary Inspectors monitor the work being done by the employees to maintain cleanliness in their respective areas on a daily basis and at the same time, challans are being issued and fines are also being imposed on those using single-use plastic.

Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh said that the main priority of the newly appointed Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill is to improve the cleanliness system of the city and impose a complete ban on the use of single-use plastic bags. Lakhs of tourists and devotees visit this holy city every day, so it is the responsibility of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation to regularly clean all the roads of the city and pick up the garbage, so that tourists can see the beautiful form of Amritsar and take a clean image of the city with them.

He also said that as per the instructions of the government, a special campaign is being run to ban the use of single-use plastic in the city, under which the health department is issuing challans daily, confiscating goods and imposing fines, but despite this people are still using it. It should be known that plastic bags not only damage the sewerage system, but are also harmful for animals, so we should completely ban them. The Additional Commissioner appealed to the city residents to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation in maintaining the cleanliness of the city and preventing the use of single-use plastic.
