Jainism’s Samvatsari Mahaparva is being celebrated from 20 to 27 August. Any kind of violence during these days is considered extremely inauspicious. So that the religious sentiments of the Jain community are not hurt and mischievous elements cannot take undue advantage of it.
Therefore, to maintain law and order, Sangrur District Magistrate Rahul Chaba, exercising powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, has issued orders to keep meat, fish and egg shops/rehris, non-vegetarian hotels/dhabas and courtyards closed in Sangrur district on August 27 (Wednesday).
