Significant news is emerging from Batala, Punjab. Two young men were killed and five others seriously injured in a shooting incident last night in the crowded Khajuri Gate area. In protest, some organizations called for a Batala Bandh and closed shops in the markets.

Shiv Sena leader Ramesh Nayyar said that law and order in Punjab has collapsed. Criminals commit crimes and flee, only to be arrested hours later. He demanded immediate action from the administration.
