A holiday has been declared in the city on Saturday; schools and colleges will remain closed. A half-day holiday has been announced in Jalandhar on November 1st.

This is because a grand Nagar Kirtan (religious procession) will be taken out by the Gurdwara Diwan Asthan Management Committee and other Sikh organizations to commemorate the Prakash Utsav (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

In light of this, the Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar has made an important decision, announcing that all government and private schools and colleges in the district will have a half-day holiday for students and staff after 12 PM on November 1st. The Deputy Commissioner stated that this decision has been taken to respect religious sentiments and to prevent any traffic-related inconvenience for the students.
