A case of suicide of a 12th-grade student has come to light in Kapurthala. The family alleges that a young man first trapped Sarika (18) in a love trap and then began pressuring her to marry him. He was blackmailing her by sending obscene videos. Distressed by this, Sarika committed suicide by hanging herself. No one was home at the time of the suicide. Police arrived at the scene upon learning of the incident. The body was removed from the noose and sent to the hospital.
Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused youth. Teams are conducting raids to arrest him. According to the police, Rajkumar, a resident of Lahori Gate, Kapurthala, said that his daughter Sarika was studying in the 12th grade at a government school. During this time, Pawandeep, a young man from Mansoorwal village, lured her into a love trap. He would frequently talk and meet with her. During this time, he took some photos and made videos of her. He would call and threaten her if she refused.
Rajkumar further explained that after this, he began pressuring Sarika to marry him. When Sarika refused, he began calling and threatening her. He threatened her that he had photos and videos of her that he would make viral and defame her. Rajkumar explained that when he learned about this, he spoke to his daughter. After hearing the full story from his daughter, he counseled Pawandeep, telling him that Sarika was still studying and that he should stop harassing her.
According to the father, despite repeated warnings, Pawandeep continued to blackmail Sarika with photos and videos. He also pressured her to marry him. This caused Sarika severe distress. On Tuesday evening, she returned from school. He had gone out with his younger daughter. Sarika was alone at home. Meanwhile, Sarika committed suicide by hanging herself from the fan. When they returned home that evening, they found Sarika hanging from the ceiling fan. Sarika was then immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. City Police Station SHO Amandeep Nahar confirmed the incident, saying a case has been registered based on the family’s statement. The family stated that the student committed suicide due to fear and stress caused by the young man’s blackmail and pressure to marry her. After the accused’s arrest, his mobile number will be investigated to determine what kind of videos he made of the student. Call details will also be obtained.
