Mohali: 3 held for snatching mobile phones from Chandigarh University students

Mohali police have arrested three men for allegedly snatching mobile phones from students at Chandigarh University over the past few days.
Eleven Mobile phones, including Apple iPhones, have been recovered from the accused’s possession.
The police said the three suspects, residents of nearby areas, used to target youths at public places in and around the university campus. The police had been receiving several complaints from the students, following which the Gharuan police swung into action and nabbed the youths.
On February 16, three bike-borne youths snatched the mobile phone of Chandigarh University student Daman Bajaj, who was returning to the hostel after attending classes in the daytime.
The cops registered a case on February 19 and arrested Hritik Mattoo, a resident of Ward No. 10, Morinda, and recovered the stolen mobile phone and the bike used in the crime.
On February 18, Mohammed Nabeel, a native of Ernakulam, Kerala, and a paying guest in Gharuan, reported that unknown persons had snatched his mobile phone. The police arrested Maankhedi, Sadar Kharar, and residents Navjot Singh and Mandeep Singh, and recovered 10 stolen phones from them.
Kharar DSP Karan Singh Sandhu said, “The suspects have been arrested after registering a case of snatching. In one case, intoxicants were recovered from 3 youths. Separate cases have been registered at Sadar Kharar police station.”
