Motorists have been hit by a fresh blow of inflation. Effective today, traveling within Punjab has become more expensive. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has released new toll tax rates. Consequently, toll rates at nearly all plazas across Punjab have been hiked by at least ₹5. The NHAI has once again increased the rates at the Ladowal Toll Plaza—widely regarded as the most expensive toll plaza in the country—implementing a hike of ₹5.
Notably, drivers of jeeps and cars previously had to pay a fee of ₹220 at the Ladowal Toll Plaza; they will now be required to pay ₹225. Furthermore, the toll fee for a round trip (to and fro) for cars and jeeps, which previously stood at ₹335, has now been raised to ₹340. Starting April 1st, drivers will no longer be able to make cash payments at the Ladowal Toll Plaza; toll fees must now be paid exclusively via FASTag. Vehicles not equipped with a FASTag will not be permitted to pass, potentially causing inconvenience to drivers.
