Acting under the directives of SSP Rupnagar Maninder Singh, SP (Investigation) Gurdeep Singh Gosal, and DSP Sri Anandpur Sahib Jashandeep Singh Mann—and as part of an ongoing campaign to crack down on narcotics and criminal elements—the Nurpur Bedi police have achieved a major breakthrough. During a routine patrol, the police arrested a young man, recovering two pistols, two country-made firearms (*desi kattas*), and eight live cartridges from his possession.
Providing details regarding this incident, Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Rohit Sharma stated that ASI Angrez Singh, along with a police party from Haripur, was patrolling from Haripur village towards Rupnagar to check for suspicious individuals and vehicles. As the police party approached a bridge near Tibba Tapparian village, they spotted a young man standing on the road leading towards the Khatana cremation ground, situated to the left of the main road; he was carrying a bag slung over his shoulder.
Upon seeing the police, the youth began moving suspiciously towards the bushes behind him. Acting on their suspicions, the police immediately apprehended him and subjected him to questioning. During interrogation, he identified himself as Sandeep Kumar alias ‘Radhe,’ son of Lachhman Das, a resident of Rogar Basti, Ward No. 1, Jaito, District Faridkot. A subsequent search of his bag by the police yielded the recovery of one .30 bore pistol (with magazine) and two live cartridges, one .32 bore pistol (with magazine) and two live cartridges, two .315 bore country-made firearms, and four .315 bore live cartridges.
SHO Sharma confirmed that the accused, Sandeep Kumar alias ‘Radhe,’ was arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered against him under various sections of the Arms Act. He added that further significant revelations are anticipated during the intensive interrogation of the accused.
