In the city’s Rampur Khaliyan area, a fire department employee was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by three youths riding a motorcycle. The employee sustained serious injuries in this incident and, with the assistance of bystanders, was admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The injured youth has been identified as Kirpal Singh, a resident of Rampur Khaliyan. Providing details regarding the case, Kirpal Singh stated that he had been receiving threats for the past year. According to the victim, a legal case was ongoing regarding the eviction of encroachers from government land.
He had been receiving threats in connection with this matter and had even submitted an affidavit to the police. Subsequently, three unidentified individuals on a motorcycle attacked him using sharp-edged weapons. At the time of the incident, he was riding his motorcycle to report for duty at the fire department. Near the Baba Mangu Shah shrine, the attackers sideswiped his motorcycle, knocking him to the ground, before assaulting him with sharp weapons. The attack was orchestrated due to an old feud. According to the victim, certain villagers had hired outsiders to carry out the assault.
Kirpal Singh’s brother, Gurmeet Singh, stated that Kirpal was on his way to duty when unidentified individuals attacked and injured him. Some villagers spotted him in his injured state and alerted the family. He was subsequently admitted to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment. The attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, had their faces covered during the incident. A formal complaint regarding the incident has been lodged with the police, and an appeal for justice has been made to the administration.
Meanwhile, the investigating officer stated that they had received information regarding an individual sustaining injuries. Upon reaching the Civil Hospital, they proceeded to record the statement of the injured Kirpal Singh. Kirpal Singh confirmed that he was attacked by three individuals riding a motorcycle. Further action is being initiated based on the victim’s statement.
