A truck met with an accident around 3:00 AM last night on National Highway-44, the route connecting Panipat to Amritsar. The mishap occurred while construction work was underway on the highway, and construction materials and debris were scattered across the road.
According to reports, the truck driver stated that the intense white headlights of an oncoming car suddenly flashed into his eyes, causing him to lose clear visibility of the road for a few moments. During this brief lapse in vision, the truck drove onto the construction debris lying on the road and crashed.
Fortunately, the truck was traveling at a low speed, ensuring that the driver did not sustain any serious injuries. However, the truck itself suffered damage in the accident. Following the incident, the driver appealed to the road construction agency and the administration, urging them to ensure that all debris is immediately cleared from the road once construction work is completed. He emphasized that debris left behind on the highway could trigger a major road accident at any moment.
Local residents have also raised questions regarding the safety protocols in place during the construction work. Residents argue that adequate warning signs, reflectors, and safety measures must be ensured around the construction site to prevent motorists from facing any difficulties while driving at night.
