In the town of Fatehgarh Churian in Gurdaspur, a clothing store located near Bath Market caught fire under mysterious circumstances shortly after midnight. The blaze reduced the clothes and other merchandise stored inside to ashes, resulting in financial losses amounting to lakhs of rupees. A residential house is situated directly above the shop; nine people—including children—were sleeping inside at the time, and they narrowly escaped with their lives.
Initially, the family and local residents gathered and made every effort to extinguish the fire; however, by the time the fire brigade arrived, the shop had already been completely gutted. Reports indicate that a mother and her young child, trapped in the residence above the shop, became stranded on the third-floor terrace. They were safely brought down by the fire brigade crew after the fire had been brought under control. Meanwhile, the local MLA, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, visited the scene of the incident to share in the bereaved family’s grief and assured them of his full support.
