Many parts of the country grappling with severe heat may soon find relief. On June 7, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued warnings for strong storms, rain, and lightning across 17 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra. Wind speeds of 80 to 90 km/h are expected in several areas.

According to the weather department, the Southwest Monsoon has arrived in parts of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Northeast India. It is likely to advance into Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and other regions over the next few days.

**Alert for rain and strong winds in UP and Bihar**
Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in several districts of the Purvanchal region in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, an ‘Orange Alert’ for storms and rain has been issued for several districts in Bihar, including Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, and Vaishali. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in Bhagalpur and Banka.

**Active weather in hilly states too**
A spell of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds is likely to continue in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next few days. The weather department has advised people to remain cautious.

**Cloudy skies in Delhi, followed by rising heat**
Partly cloudy skies and strong winds are expected in the national capital, Delhi, on Sunday. However, temperatures could rise to 42°C over the next two days.

**Alert issued for these states**
The IMD has issued warnings for storms, rain, and lightning across 17 states and union territories: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar, and Ladakh. Additionally, heatwave conditions are predicted in parts of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Western Uttar Pradesh between June 8 and June 12.
