A major burglary at a businessman’s home in the posh Rajguru Nagar area of Ludhiana has left the police and locals shocked. Late at night, miscreants scaled the boundary wall to enter the mansion, held three staff members captive, administered a sedative to them, and then calmly broke open the home’s lockers. They fled with valuables worth crores of rupees.
According to preliminary information, the burglars made off with approximately 1.5 kg of gold, around ₹10 lakh in cash, diamond jewelry, expensive watches, and other valuables. At the time of the incident, businessman Rajinder Singh Dhawan was in Thailand with his family to celebrate his grandson’s birthday; the family had left for abroad on June 13. The burglars targeted the empty house during this period. Only the nanny (Rekha), cook (Sonam), domestic helper (Anjali), and driver (Vicky) were present in the house.

**Information received upon return**
According to the victimized businessman, he learned of the incident through an acquaintance when he arrived at Bangkok airport on June 19 to return home. Upon reaching the house, he found the locks on the cupboards and lockers broken. The locker in his son’s room had also been forced open. Reports indicate that the burglars first subdued the maids and rendered them unconscious using a sedative; the full extent of the incident came to light only after the maids regained consciousness. After the theft, the burglars also ripped out and took away the house’s DVR to destroy any evidence of the crime. **Suspects caught on neighbor’s cameras**
During the investigation, footage from neighborhood CCTV cameras showed two suspicious individuals passing through the street. The police have secured the footage and initiated an investigation. The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a case against unidentified accused persons.
Police officials state that a detailed list of the stolen jewelry, cash, and other items has been sought from the victim’s family. Once the list is received, the exact value of the stolen property will be assessed. Preliminary investigations suggest the crime was premeditated, as the perpetrators were fully aware of the household’s activities and the family’s absence.
