A couple entered into a love marriage about a year and a half ago, but disputes arose between them shortly after the wedding. After the marriage, the wife—formerly his girlfriend—arrived at her husband’s home with her family members, stole gold jewelry and other valuables, and fled. The aggrieved husband lodged a complaint with the police at Police Station Division No. 3.
Following an investigation, the local police registered a case against his wife Simran, mother-in-law Neelam Rani, father-in-law Vinod Chhabra, Sunita Arora, and Sachin Arora—residents of Kanganpur Road, Kirti Nagar, Sirsa, Haryana—on charges of theft and intimidation, based on the statement of the victim, Sahil Bahri (a resident of Ahata Fakir Chand).
The victim, Sahil, stated that he had a love marriage with Simran on December 4, 2024. Shortly after the wedding, Simran began making excessive demands, which he was unable to fulfill. After days of constant quarreling, Simran left for her parental home. On November 12, 2025, Simran, accompanied by her parents and other in-laws (totaling five people), forcibly entered his house.
The in-laws hurled verbal abuse and threats, stole gold jewelry weighing approximately 15 tolas (worth lakhs of rupees) from his cupboard, and fled the scene. Station House Officer (SHO) Gurjit Singh confirmed that the couple had a love marriage. Several attempts at reconciliation had been made between the two parties prior to the registration of the case. Ultimately, the husband lodged a complaint alleging that his in-laws had entered his home, stolen jewelry and valuables, and absconded. The police have now registered a case and initiated an investigation.
