The weather is set to take a turn once again across North India, including Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for both states for today, July 5, predicting strong winds (40–50 km/h), thunderstorms, lightning, and rain. Following this, the monsoon is expected to intensify starting July 6.
A ‘Yellow Alert’ for heavy rain has been issued for several districts across both states from July 6 to July 8. On Saturday, light to moderate rainfall in various parts of Punjab brought relief to residents from the humid heat. According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature in Punjab was recorded at 38.9°C in Abohar, while the highest in Haryana was 38.5°C in Sirsa.
The Meteorological Department indicates that thunderstorms accompanied by rain and strong winds are likely in several areas on Sunday. A spell of heavy rain is expected to begin on July 6 and may continue until July 8. In light of this, people are advised to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions and to follow the advisories issued by the Meteorological Department.
