In a major operation, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of the Punjab Police (Amritsar) arrested three youths and recovered 12 illegal pistols and 6 hand grenades from their possession. Following this seizure, security agencies have been put on alert, and a multi-faceted investigation into the matter has commenced. Preliminary inquiries are focusing on the source of the weapons and explosives, their intended use, and the criminal connections of the accused.
According to police officials, the operation was carried out based on secret information. Intelligence had been received that some youths were present in the Lopoke police station area with weapons and explosives. Acting swiftly on this information, the SSOC team launched a special operation and laid a siege near Ram Tirath. Upon spotting the police team, the accused attempted to flee, but alert police personnel apprehended all three on the spot.
Three accused arrested
The arrested individuals have been identified as Chintu (son of Shinda), Jobanpreet Singh (son of Major Singh), and Gurpreet Singh (son of Gurmeet Singh). All three are residents of Kakkar village in the Lopoke police station area. During the search, the police recovered 12 illegal pistols and 6 hand grenades from them. The seized weapons and explosives have been taken into custody, and the process of forensic examination has begun. The police are now investigating whether the accused are linked to any organized crime syndicate, inter-state arms smuggling ring, or other criminal networks.
