An atmosphere of panic prevails in the area following an incident of armed robbery at a house in Barnala. Five individuals arrived at a residence located on the Moga Bypass-Bathinda Road, allegedly intimidated the homeowner with weapons, and fled after looting cash and gold jewelry. Upon receiving a complaint, the police registered a case against the five accused and have initiated an investigation.
In the complaint lodged with the police, Jagsir Singh, a resident of Sahoke Road, stated that he was present at his home on the Moga Bypass-Bathinda Road when the incident occurred. Dharmpreet Singh, Harjinder Singh, Sukh Singh, and Sukhvinder Singh—all residents of Dhaula—along with an unidentified person, arrived at the location in a car. The complainant alleges that the accused were armed and began threatening him immediately upon entering the house.
Robbers arrived in a car
According to the victim, the accused used weapons to forcibly take ₹18,000 in cash and gold jewelry weighing approximately three tolas. After committing the crime, all the accused fled the scene in their car. The victim immediately informed the police. Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the location and inspected the scene. The police questioned local residents and gathered facts related to the incident. Additionally, footage from CCTV cameras in the area is being examined to track the movements of the accused and their escape route.
Police working to identify the culprits
Police officials stated that a case has been registered against all five accused under various sections based on the complainant’s statement. Given the seriousness of the matter, separate teams have been formed to search for the accused. Raids are being conducted at suspected hideouts, and technical evidence is also being utilized.
The police stated that all facts emerging during the investigation would be included in the official record. If the involvement of any other person in the incident comes to light, action will be taken against them as well, in accordance with the law. For now, the police state that efforts are underway to arrest the accused soon and recover the looted property.
