A case of alleged online fraud involving a resident of Kotli Harchanda village, under the jurisdiction of the Bhaini Mian Khan police station, has come to light. The police have registered a case against an unidentified individual and initiated an investigation.
According to the statement given to the police, Balwinder Singh, a resident of Kotli Harchanda village, reported that his father received a call from an unknown person. The caller claimed to be a relative and, through persuasive conversation, allegedly tricked him into transferring Rs 2 lakh to his bank account.
Upon discovering the transaction, the family lodged a complaint regarding the cyber fraud. The matter stems from an online complaint filed via the 1930 cyber helpline portal, from where it was forwarded by the State Cyber Cell (Mohali, Punjab) to the concerned police station for action. Investigating Officer Kamaldeep Sharma stated that a case has been registered based on the complainant’s statement, and an investigation is underway to identify the unknown individual and trace the financial transaction.
