Indian wrestlers, who battled issues ranging from injuries to a dip in form prior to the Asian Games, delivered a stellar performance by securing six medals—including two golds—and are now eyeing a similar feat at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
At the Asian Games, Aman Sehrawat and Sujeet Kalkal won gold medals, while Nitesh Sivach and Antim Panghal claimed silver, and Deepak Punia and Sunil Kumar secured bronze.
**Refusing to Give Up**
Upon returning home on Monday, 23-year-old Aman Sehrawat said, “Ups and downs and injuries are part of life, but I had complete faith in myself. We should never give up, and that is exactly what I did. My next goal is the Olympics. Now, our national anthem will be played at the Los Angeles Olympics.” Sujeet, India’s other gold medalist in freestyle wrestling, remarked that this opportunity was about living up to expectations. Nitesh Sivach, who won silver in the men’s 97kg Greco-Roman category, also stated, “My goal was to win gold. We will continue to give our best and hope to return with medals from the Olympics as well.”
**Welcomed by the Sports Minister**
Wrestlers Deepak Punia and Antim Panghal were also welcomed upon their return to New Delhi Airport by Haryana’s Sports Minister, Gaurav Gautam, and their family members.
