The government has taken a significant step towards strengthening mobile networks in the remote and border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the Central Government’s Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), the state government has approved the provision of land for setting up mobile towers in areas with poor mobile connectivity.
Under this initiative, mobile towers will be installed in the areas of Uri, Tangmarg, Karnah, Kalakote, Kralpora, Basantgarh, Khour, Latti-Marothi, Banihal, Pogal Paristan, Ramsu, and Kila Darhal.
**Strengthening Mobile Networks**
This move is expected to expand high-speed telecommunication services to remote and border villages in these regions. A stronger mobile network will facilitate online education for students in rural areas and improve access to e-governance services.
**Boosting Digital Connectivity**
Furthermore, improved communication systems during emergencies will help in providing prompt assistance to the public.
This government initiative is viewed as an effort to enhance digital connectivity in areas of Jammu and Kashmir where telecommunication services have historically been relatively weak. The installation of mobile towers will help bridge the digital divide and connect the rural population to digital services.
