Lord Ram, accompanied by his three brothers, will appear as the bridegroom… the city will be decked out in festive splendor… and the wedding procession participants will dance with joy. This is the atmosphere expected during the grand ‘Ram Barat’ (wedding procession) starting from the Shri Tikaram Temple on October 8. The police have initiated preparations to ensure the procession proceeds smoothly without any disruptions.
The procession, commencing at the Tikaram Temple and Center Point Crossing, will travel via Samad Road, Ramghat Road, Vishnupuri, Sudamapuri, Gurudwara Road, Chharra Bus Stand, Naurangabad Bridge, and GT Road to reach the Shri Ramlila Ground at Achaltal. Traffic diversions have been implemented from 3:00 PM until the conclusion of the procession. Here are the route diversions:
Heavy and commercial vehicles approaching the city from the direction of Atrauli via Kwarsi Crossing will be diverted at Kwarsi Crossing.
Heavy vehicles and Roadways buses entering the city from Boner T-junction via Etah Chungi will also be redirected to alternative routes at Boner T-junction.
Internal diversions will also be enforced as the procession moves forward.
Initially, vehicle entry from Gandhi-I T-junction towards Center Point will be restricted.
Once the procession reaches the Gandhi-I T-junction and Ramghat Road, vehicles coming from Kwarsi Crossing and Kishanpur T-junction towards ‘Dubey ka Padav’ will be halted.
When the procession reaches Gurudwara Road, traffic movement will be restricted on the routes from beneath Meenakshi Bridge towards Naurangabad Bridge/GT Road, and from Naurangabad Bridge towards Meenakshi Bridge.
Upon the procession reaching Naurangabad Bridge, vehicles traveling from Gandhi Park Bus Stand and ‘Dubey ka Padav’ towards Madargate, Hathras Adda, and Achaltal will also be stopped. According to SSP Neeraj Jadoun, the traffic diversion plan will be strictly enforced to ensure the public faces no inconvenience during the procession. If the road is not repaired in time, the procession will be rerouted via Agra Road.
Vimal Agarwal, President of the Ramlila Committee, stated that roadworks are currently being carried out by the Municipal Corporation on Gurudwara Road. Discussions have been held with the Municipal Commissioner, who has assured that the road will be repaired before the event. An alternative route has also been finalized in case the primary route is not ready; in such a scenario, the ‘Ram Barat’ procession would proceed via Ramghat Road, passing through Meenakshi Bridge, Dubey ka Padav Vegetable Market, Madar Gate, and Arya Samaj Road to reach Ramlila Maidan.
