Sana Designer’ enticed children in Jharkhand with grand promises, while charging each of them 3,000 rupees. Furthermore, the event organizers failed to settle their outstanding dues with the Wave International Hotel, forcing the event to be shut down midway.
On Sunday evening, ‘Sana Designer’ hosted ‘Diva & Divo Enve Season-3’ at the Wave International Hotel, located on National Highway-33. The event promised participants several perks: selection as brand ambassadors, opportunities for paid photoshoots, professional makeup services, ramp walks in designer outfits, sashes for all participants, and crowns and trophies for the top three. Additionally, select children were promised future paid work opportunities and the creation of a strong professional profile for the fashion industry. However, the nature of the event and the conduct of its organizers led to the event being abruptly halted.
The organizing committee had booked the venue two months in advance, with arrangements including lunch for 150 people and a ramp walk setup by the poolside. The total agreed-upon cost was 1.90 lakh rupees; however, even by the time the event began, less than half of the amount had been paid.
Consequently, the hotel management cut the power supply during the event, forcing the cancellation of the remaining proceedings, including the crowning ceremony. Even then, members of the organizing committee continued to evade payment.
As a result, the hotel management alerted the Chandil police station. Police arrived and questioned the head of the organizing committee late into the night. Meanwhile, the participants—who had traveled from Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and other areas—feel cheated and are expressing their anger toward the organizing committee. Meanwhile, Faizan, the head of the organizing committee, stated that they had previously conducted two other events, both of which were highly successful. However, when asked about obtaining administrative permission for such an event, he provided vague and evasive answers. This entire episode highlights a recurring issue: in the hope of a bright future, young people often fall prey to event management companies that exploit their dreams of building a career in the fashion industry or in Mumbai, ultimately swindling them out of their money.
In this particular instance, the event company collected 3,000 rupees from each participant; yet, they lacked the funds to even settle the outstanding dues owed to the hotel management—which is how the matter came to light. Consequently, young people are urged to thoroughly verify the profiles of event organizers before deciding to participate in such events.
