The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has expanded its investigation into the case involving former Punjab Industries Minister Sunder Sham Arora. The agency’s investigation, which is linked to alleged irregularities in industrial plot allotments, has now reached the real estate sector in Mohali.
According to reports, ED officials have examined records at the office of Marbella Group, located in Sector 82, Mohali. The investigation reportedly continued for two days, during which officials scrutinised documents related to real estate transactions, land ownership and financial dealings.
The agency is reportedly examining the financial connections between different companies, property investments and transactions involving land and industrial plots. Investigators are also trying to establish whether there were any links between the alleged irregularities in industrial plot allotments and subsequent real estate investments.
Investigation Focuses on Land Deals and Financial Transactions
During the investigation, ED officials reportedly examined documents related to land ownership, property purchases, plot allotments and financial transactions between various companies. Sources also indicate that some records may have been taken into custody, although this has not been officially confirmed by the agency.
The investigation is also examining the possible business connections between Sunder Sham Arora and individuals associated with real estate companies. However, no official finding establishing wrongdoing by Marbella Group has been made public so far.
ED Raids Multiple Locations in Punjab
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at several locations connected to Sunder Sham Arora, his son Prateek Arora and their business associates.
The searches covered locations in Hoshiarpur, Mohali and Chandigarh. The investigation is linked to alleged irregularities in the allotment of industrial plots by the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation, commonly known as PSIEC.
The agency is also examining allegations related to disproportionate assets and suspected financial irregularities.
Real Estate Transactions Under Scrutiny
The latest action at Marbella Group’s office indicates that investigators are examining the financial and business transactions connected with the wider case.
The key focus remains on the source of investments, ownership of properties, transfer of funds and the relationship between different business entities.
However, it is important to note that an ED search or examination of business records does not establish guilt. The investigation is ongoing, and its findings are awaited.
