A major development has emerged in the Chandigarh doctor kidnapping case, with the court seeking confidential investigation records from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court’s move has brought fresh attention to the investigation and raised questions about the alleged omission of police personnel’s names from the case records.
The matter revolves around the kidnapping case of a doctor in Chandigarh, in which the role of police personnel and the investigation process have come under scrutiny.
The court wants to examine the confidential files maintained by the CBI to understand how the investigation progressed and why the names of certain police officers allegedly did not appear in the relevant records.
What Is the Entire Controversy About?
According to the complaint, the CBI’s chargesheet states that a WhatsApp group involving 15 police personnel was allegedly used to plan the kidnapping. However, only nine police personnel were named as accused in the chargesheet.
Dr. Mohit Dhawan has questioned why the remaining members of the WhatsApp group were not made accused and what criteria the CBI used to determine their alleged roles.
The court has now directed the CBI to submit its initial and subsequent investigation reports in a sealed cover. The judge will examine these documents privately in the chamber. Neither the complainant nor the public will have access to the confidential reports at this stage.
