Chances of improvement in the functioning of the Transport Department
After the objection of Transport Minister Anil Vij, many IPS and HPS officers along with inspectors have already been removed from the Transport Department. With the intention of improving the functioning of the Transport Department, the then Chief Minister Manohar Lal had experimented with the appointment of IPS and HPS officers in this department, which was largely successful. But the IAS and HCS lobby were very angry with this experiment.
Officers from constable to DSP rank were in the Transport Department
Transport Minister Anil Vij, who was against the posting of police officers and jawans in other departments from the beginning, has taken the initiative to make his Transport Department police-free. Officers from constable to DSP rank were engaged on deputation in the Transport Department.
Now in the Deputy Government, the command of the Transport Ministry is in the hands of Vij. When Vij took over the work, the responsibility of the Principal Secretary of the department was also with ADGP Navdeep Singh Virk. After Vij’s objection, the government has removed him from the Transport Department.
After the orders of Anil Vij, who was angry with the appointment of police personnel and officers in many Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) in the state, Transport Commissioner CG Rajnikanthan has issued a letter and ordered everyone to go to their original cadre.
Police personnel will go to the police department and take over their work
Apart from constables, head constables, ASIs, sub-inspectors and inspectors, DSP rank officers were working in the Transport Department. Now all these officers and police personnel will go to the police department and take over their work.
Vij believes that the duties of police and civil are different. Police personnel and officers are there to handle law and order. There are other officers and employees for the work of civil departments. Another aspect is that the training of police personnel is done with a view to control law and order.
The government has appointed senior IAS Dr. Ashok Khemka as Additional Chief Secretary of Transport Department in place of ADGP Navdeep Singh Virk. The government removed IPS officer Virk from Vij’s department only after Vij’s objection. However, Navdeep Singh Virk has the responsibility of Principal Secretary of Sports Department.
