After the Patwaris in Haryana, now the government is preparing to crack down on the corrupt officers posted in tehsils and blocks. The government has now started working towards identifying revenue officers, especially Naib Tehsildars, Tehsildars, Kanungos and Auditors. These are the officers whose background is suspicious or against whom corruption complaints are pending.
There is a ruckus over the government’s recent release of a list of 370 corrupt Patwaris with their names. After which the Patwaris are on the streets against the government. They have announced a three-day non-work. They have also warned that if the government does not withdraw this list, they will be forced to make the agitation more fierce.
The accused of the registry scam are also being investigated
According to sources in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department of Haryana, apart from gathering information on the allegations, the government is also finding out whether the names of these officers are in the list of those tainted revenue officers who are involved in the registry scam during the Covid period.
Acting on the findings of a Special Investigation Committee (SEC) constituted by the government at that time, the government had held 232 revenue officials, including kanungos, auditors, registry clerks and patwaris, besides 34 tehsildars and naib tehsildars, guilty of manipulating revenue records to facilitate land mafia or real estate agents.
The horoscope of corrupt officials is also being investigated from here
After the action against the patwaris, the government is considering re-examining the files and other records such as CM window, pending complaints or source reports given by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and other internal vigilance agencies to identify the officials.
However, the government is working on it in a confidential manner. The reason for this is also that last week the department had released a list of 370 tainted patwaris, which has created a ruckus. This time the government is taking precautions.
Investigation continues in Patwari case
The government’s investigation is going on in the matter of the leaked list of 370 corrupt Patwaris in Haryana. The CID, which has become active in this case on the instructions of the government, is scrutinizing the inputs received from the districts. It is likely that the list issued by the Revenue Department to the DCs of the districts has been leaked from the district headquarters itself. Along with this, intelligence agencies are also keeping an eye on the social media platform (WhatsApp). Some groups have also been identified in the investigation so far.
DCs of the districts have to submit the report next week
However, it has been made clear by the government that the leaked list will not be withdrawn at any cost. The government has been focusing on zero tolerance from the beginning, and work will be done with this agenda in the future as well. On the order given by the Haryana government regarding the list, preparations have been started to prepare a report of corrupt Patwaris in the districts.
In this list, the government has asked the DCs of the districts to submit the report within 15 days. It is likely that the DCs will prepare a report next week and send it to the government.
