The issue of 104 Indians brought by America in handcuffs and shackles has heated up the politics of the country. Congress is raising this issue from the streets to the Parliament. Meanwhile, Chandigarh MP and former Union Minister Manish Tewari has cornered the central government on this issue.
He says that the way the country’s foreign minister has given a statement in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, it is not clear whether he is the foreign minister of India or the spokesperson of the Trump government. The way Indians have been brought in handcuffs and shackles, it seems as if the British used to take freedom fighters to Kala Pani at the time of India’s independence.
Whatever happened is condemnable
In fact, when Manish Tewari reached Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Bhawan, the media questioned him that politics has heated up after the plane carrying people deported from America landed in Amritsar. Aam Aadmi Party says that an attempt has been made to defame Punjab by landing the plane in this manner.
In response to this, the MP said that whatever happened is extremely unfortunate and condemnable. He said, I do not understand whether the Foreign Minister of India is the Foreign Minister of India or the spokesperson of the Trump government. The kind of statement he gave in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha yesterday. Justifying this, he said that it is absolutely right to put handcuffs and shackles. Nothing can be more unfortunate and condemnable than this. There was not a single word of condemnation in his speech.
People who were deported are not criminals: MP
The MP said that Indians were treated in such a way that it seemed as if the British used to take India’s freedom fighters to black water. Those people are not criminals. They do not get any chance here, so they went abroad. It is true that they went abroad illegally.
Till date, the answer to this question has not come from the Government of India whether the law of America was followed while deporting people or not. The way people were deported and after that formal videos were shared by the US government.
They were handcuffed and shackled and were not given any food or water for forty hours. They were not given toilet facilities either. What could be more reprehensible than this?
