F&CC election held unopposed in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation: AAP councillor Dhingra withdraws his name, Poonam becomes member; need of a metro city

Date:

The general meeting of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation House is going on today on Friday. During this, first the election for the Finance and Contract Committee was held. But at the last moment, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Yogesh Dhingra withdrew his name. After which Poonam, who had shown rebellious attitude and filed nomination, was made the candidate of Aam Aadmi Party. Due to which this election was unopposed.

Although MP Manish Tiwari had also reached the meeting, but as soon as the election process was completed unopposed, he left from there. However, Aam Aadmi Party councilor Ramchandra Yadav created a ruckus in the House. He said that BJP had promised the colony residents that they would get the ownership rights of the allotted houses. But the whole truth has come out in the Parliament. People have been cheated. At the same time, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said that she is going to meet Governor Gulab Chand Kataria this evening on the issue of the financial condition of the Municipal Corporation.

AAP did not want rebellion in the party

Selection for five members of the F and CC Committee was to be held today. During this period, six councillors had applied. Yogesh Dhingra, Suman and Poonam were nominated from Aam Aadmi Party, while Saurabh Joshi, Jasmanpreet from BJP and Gurpreet Singh from Congress had filed nominations. However, after AAP lost the mayor election, questions were being raised on its leadership. Secondly, now the Delhi assembly elections are over. In such a situation, the Chandigarh leadership did not want any ruckus. In such a situation, Dhingra withdrew his name just before the meeting with a complete strategy.

Prem Lata said – Those who cross voted in the election were our own

On this occasion, Prem Lata, who was the joint candidate of AAP and Congress and lost the mayor election, said that BJP did not defeat me in the election. Those who cross voted were also our own from both the parties. She said that I have not lost. Prem Lata is neither a traitor, nor was a traitor and nor will she be a traitor. If anyone has drunk mother’s milk, then tell me till today that Prem Lata has taken this thing from me. People work for 12 hours a day.

Prem Lata works 24 hours a day. I have not lost, I have won today. My party made me a candidate with honesty. I thank Arvind Kejriwal, Sunny Ahluwalia, alliance leader and MP Manish Tiwari, Pradhan HS Chakki and all other leaders. Even if I have to lose my life for those who have supported me, I will not step back.

The leadership will find out who cross-voted. I do all the work in my area. Now I have left everything to God. Lions enter the battlefield alone. I do not need anyone’s support. I roam around Chandigarh alone. I neither do corruption nor will I let it happen. I will support the truth. Secondly, if something wrong happens to me, Mayor Sahib.

Something wrong happened to two AAP candidates as well. I am sad about their defeat. Who is the traitor among them? He is also one of them.

Metro is needed for Chandigarh

MP Manish Tiwari said that it is very unfortunate that the things that were said in the last 25 years, about which it was said that they are being implemented, when the Central Government responds, the Central Government completely rejects that thing saying that there is no such proposal. You mentioned the Metro, I have also read in newspapers many times that the Metro is running, stopping. Stations have been built.

Half of it will be underground, half will be over ground. It will go to New Chandigarh, Panchkula, Pinjore. But there is nothing on paper. Rising above party politics, MRTS is not the need of this city but of all the four cities Mohali, Panchkula, New Chandigarh and Chandigarh. You can see what the traffic situation is like.

Just think that after ten years it will become difficult to walk in this city. Even today there are many such squares which are difficult to cross. Sometimes it takes 35 minutes to come from Hallomajra to Tribune Chowk. So when you look at the progress and development of any city in perspective, you need to think 10-20 years ahead. That is why we are supporting the metro.
