After the Delhi election results, the Punjab government is in action mode. After removing the Vigilance Chief and suspending Muktsar Sahib DC, now the resignations have been sought from the law officers of the state.
Resignations have been sought from about 232 officers. All these law officers have been appointed to represent the state in the High Court, Supreme Court and Tribunal. At the same time, the government has taken five major decisions so far in 7 days.
Officers are appointed for one year
However, in this regard, Punjab Advocate General (AG) Gurminder Singh says that all this is part of a fixed process. Because these officers are appointed for one year. Their appointment is also ending in the month of February. The aim of the government is to organize and strengthen the work of the office.
So that the interests of the citizens of Punjab can be made effective. This procedural step has been taken to facilitate the reappointment of law officers and ensure continuity in legal representation.
Five big decisions of the government after Delhi elections
1. 14 February – To curb corruption, the government had ordered DC, SDM, SSP and SHO to stop corruption, otherwise action will be taken against them.
2. 17 February – The government first removed Punjab Vigilance Chief Special DGP Varinder Kumar and gave responsibility to ADGP G Nagesh in his place. On the same day, Muktsar Sahib DC was suspended after corruption was found. Also, orders have been given to start a vigilance inquiry against him.
3. 19 February – 52 police employees involved in corruption were dismissed by the Punjab government. All of them were involved in corruption cases.
4. 21 February – The government transferred 21 IPS officers. These included SSPs of nine districts.
5. 21 February – The Punjab government abolished the Administrative Reforms Department.
