Bhagwant Mann’s bulldozer action against drug smugglers continues in Punjab. District Ludhiana Rural Police bulldozed the house of a drug smuggler couple in Narangwal, Halwara. District Ludhiana Rural Police Chief SSP Ankur Gupta himself was present on the spot.
On Wednesday, a video of a fight between Sarpanch Manjinder Singh Grewal and female smuggler Kulbir Kaur went viral in which the woman was openly selling drugs and threatening to kill her.
Late Thursday night, under the leadership of SSP Ankur Gupta, the police reached village Narangwal with a bulldozer and the house of smuggler couple Balwant Singh Kaka and Kulbir Kaur was demolished.
Sarpanch Manjinder Singh said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself called him and inquired about the incident and the government took action. SSP Ankur Gupta said that the police arrested a drug smuggler named Tanveer with a consignment of heroin on Thursday morning. After registering a case against Tanveer, he told during interrogation that he buys drugs from Narangwal’s drug smugglers Balwant Singh Kaka and Kulbir Kaur and sells them further. Balwant Singh and Kulbir Kaur were named in the case and their house was bulldozed. Many cases of drug smuggling have been registered against both of them earlier.
According to SSP Gupta, the house which was demolished was built with the money earned from drug smuggling. On Thursday morning, the Panchayat of Narangwal lodged a complaint against both of them in Jodhan police station and Sarpanch Manjinder Singh Grewal also sent a complaint to the Chief Minister. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself spoke to Sarpanch Manjinder Singh Grewal in the evening and a few hours later, the house of the smuggler couple was bulldozed. Patiala police on Thursday took a big and unique action against drug smugglers and demolished a two-storey illegal house built by female drug smuggler Rinki, wife of late Balbir Singh, in Rodi Kutt Mohalla with the help of JCB machines.
This action was monitored by SSP Dr. Nanak Singh himself standing on the spot. He said that strict action will continue against drug smugglers under the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and under the leadership of DGP Gaurav Yadav under the zero tolerance policy. Dr. Nanak Singh said that about 10 cases of drug smuggling have been registered against Rinki since 2016. Rinki had built this house by illegally occupying the land of the ancient Vaman Avatar temple, which has been demolished under administrative orders.
The SSP said that many complaints of drug smuggling were being received in Rodi Kutt Mohalla and Rinki was active in drug smuggling. She had built this illegal house with the money earned through drug smuggling. He said that Rinki has been arrested 10 times before, but is currently absconding. She will be arrested soon. He said that under the zero tolerance policy of the Punjab government, Patiala Police will continue to take strict action against drug smugglers.
Bulldozer runs on the house of a couple involved in drug business
In Sadavart Mohalla of Ropar, the police and civil administration claimed to take action and demolished the house of a couple involved in the drug business with a JCB machine. SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said that cases have been registered against Sadavart Mohalla resident Asha and her husband Aamir Khan in three drug cases. On this basis, this action has been taken against them.
He admitted that although no business recovery has been made from them, they are involved in the drug business and drug dealers will not be spared. During this, DC Himanshu Jain also said that while the properties of people involved in the drug business are being searched, de-addiction centers are also being strengthened.
