The prime accused in the explosives attacks in Amritsar and Batala was killed in an encounter with police in Batala on Thursday evening. The explosives were carried out on January 15 at the house of the late former chairman of the Amritsar Zila Parishad in Jaintipur and on February 17 near the house of a relative of a police personnel in Batala. The incident took place hours after the police on Thursday busted a Pakistan-based ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module with the arrest of two of its operatives – Mohit, a resident of Budha Di Khui in Batala and Vishal, a resident of Basarpura in Batala. The module was being operated by Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Rinda and US-based terrorist Happy Pasiya.
Terror module busted
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’ that the Punjab Police has busted a terrorist module supported by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI-Pakistan). Who were responsible for the attacks in Batala. With this, the cases of attack in Jantipur and Raimal on 15 January 2025 and 17 February 2025 respectively have been solved.
The accused opened fire on the police team
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Border Range Satinder Singh said that the accused Mohit had hidden weapons and ammunition in a deserted place, for the recovery of which he was taken. He said that on reaching the spot, the accused opened fire on the police team and the police retaliated in self-defense. Singh said that during this, the injured accused was taken to the Civil Hospital in Batala, where doctors declared him dead.
