Elections of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association are today (28 February). Voting has started. Advocates are reaching for voting amidst rain. During this time 5033 lawyers will cast their votes. This time there is a direct contest between seven candidates for the post of President. While 6 candidates for the post of Vice President and 2 candidates for the post of Joint Secretary and 8 candidates for the post of Treasurer are in the fray. Voting is being done through ballot paper. It is expected that the election results will be declared by late evening.
These are the contenders in the electoral fray
Former President Vikas Malik, Sartej Singh Narula, Anil Pal Singh Shergill, Ravinder Singh Randhawa, Chauhan Satwinder Singh Sisodia, Nirbhay Garg and Kanu Sharma are in the fray for the post of President. While for the post of Vice President there is a contest between Gurmail Singh Duhan, Nilesh Bhardwaj, Manmeet Singh, Gaurav Gurcharan Singh Rai and Aman Rani Sharma. There is a contest between Davinder Singh Khurana, Manvinder Singh Dalai, Gagandeep Jammu and Parampreet Singh Bajwa for the post of General Secretary. While there will be a contest between Bhagyashree Setia and Kirandeep Kaur for the post of Joint Secretary. Harvinder Singh Mann, Gaurav Grover, Jaspreet Singh Saran, Varun Singh Dhanda, Ajay Kumar Dahiya, Satnam Singh, Nikhil Kaushik and Saurabh Bhoria are in the fray for the post of Terrorist.
These steps have been taken for the election
According to the High Court Bar Election Committee, several steps have been taken for smooth conduct of the election. Parking in front of Gate No. 2 is closed. Entry towards Rock Garden will remain open. For the convenience of voters, there will be a facility of electric vehicles and wheel chairs at Gate No. 1.
