In Palwal, the vigilance team has arrested a woman ASI Jagwati posted in the women’s police station red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. The ASI took this bribe in the name of getting the family members of the accused out of the case in dowry harassment case. Vigilance has registered a case against her under the Corruption Act and started investigation.
This case is of Kamarwali village. Here Rohtash, brother-in-law of Banwari Lal, a friend of Sarpanch representative Manoj Bainsala, had a love marriage with a girl from Hodal. After marriage, the girl filed a dowry case against Rohtash and his family in December 2024.
The investigation of harassing the woman for dowry was handed over to ASI Jagwati of Mahila Police Station. Manoj Bainsala started pleading the case on behalf of Rohtash’s family. Jagwati demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to get Rohtash’s family out of the case. This amount was given on February 13.
According to Manoj Bainsala, Jagwati demanded 50 thousand rupees more in the name of the woman police station in-charge. Troubled by the continuous bribe demand, Manoj complained to the vigilance. Vigilance laid a trap and arrested the ASI taking 20 thousand rupees at Rasulpur Chowk on National Highway-19 on Friday. A case has been registered against the ASI and investigation has been started.
During this time, Jagwati got the hint of the vigilance team’s arrival. She drove her car towards Alawalpur Chowk. The team surrounded Jagwati and arrested her with a bribe of 20 thousand rupees at Alawalpur Chowk. The team took her with them to Faridabad for further action.
