The government has given a shock to the 10th-12th board examinees of Haryana. The Directorate of School Education (DSE) has directed all the District Education Officers (DEO) of Haryana to take back the tablets from the students of class 10th and 12th within 5 days of their last board examination.
The department has also issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) regarding the return process. Which states that the tablet has to be returned within five days of the last board examination. The result of the students who do not do so can be withheld.
5 lakh students have tablets
The board examinations of class 10th and 12th are still going on and the students of government schools who were given tablets under the government’s Advanced Digital Haryana initiative (e-learning) will now have to return them immediately after the examination.
Launched in 2022, the initiative aims to provide digital learning tools to students of classes 9 to 12, under which about 5 lakh tablets are distributed across the state.
SIM cards will be deactivated
In an official letter sent to the District Education Officers, the DSE stressed that the exam results of the students may be withheld if the tablets are not returned within the stipulated time. The instructions state that the tablets should be taken back within five days of the final examination and the SIM cards of class 10th and 12th should be deactivated. However, the tablets will remain with the students of class 11th.
The department will also ask CBSC to stop the results
Apart from this, the Haryana Board of School Education (BHEH) has been directed to withhold the results of students who do not return their tablets within the time limit. In cases where students are enrolled in government schools affiliated to CBSE, the department will request CBSE to withhold their results until the tablets are deposited in the respective schools.
E-learning officials say that about 5 lakh tablets were distributed across Haryana, out of which about 25,000 were allotted to students in Panipat.
