The gap between the Punjab government and the farmers’ organizations is getting deeper. The central government has sent an invitation to the United Kisan Morcha (non-political) to hold a meeting in Chandigarh on May 4.
Meanwhile, United Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has announced that if the representatives of the Punjab government attend the meeting, then the farmers’ organizations will be forced to boycott the meeting.
In this regard, SKM has also written a letter to Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan.
Dallewal clarified that the way the Punjab government detained the farmer leaders after the meeting on March 19 and the Morcha was forcefully dismantled, after that the farmers cannot attend the meeting in which the representatives of the Punjab government are present.
Dallewal shared the video
After the meeting with the farmers’ organizations ended on March 19, 2025, the Punjab Police detained the farmer leaders on the Chandigarh border and took action at Shambhu Border and Khanauri Border and got the dharna removed.
Dallewal shared a video and said that this attitude of the Punjab government was to destroy the protest by force. The police looted the goods of the farmer. Even tractor-trolleys were stolen.
Farmers’ ACs, coolers, fridges were looted – Dallewal
Farmers’ ACs, washing machines, coolers, fridges etc. were looted. There is widespread anger among the entire farmers due to this action of the police. In such a situation, they will attend the meeting to be held on May 4 only when there will be no representatives of the Punjab government in it. Since the incident of March 19, farmer organizations have been continuously surrounding the MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party.
More than a dozen MLAs have been surrounded. In many places, the MLAs have even had to flee from the spot. At many places, the farmers did not even allow the AAP MLAs to enter the village. Till now, whenever there was a meeting with the Center and farmer organizations, ministers and officials of the Punjab government have also been involved in it. In February 2024, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also attended these meetings.
He even called himself the advocate of the farmers. Now, the farmers’ organizations have drawn a new line in front of the central government for not calling the representatives of the Punjab government to the meeting.
