There will be no work in Punjab-Haryana High Court today, Bar Association announced ‘No Work Day’

Date:

The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has today declared 9 May 2025 as “No Work Day”. This decision has been taken in view of the ongoing tension in the border areas and the ongoing blackout in Chandigarh.

In an official notice issued by the secretary of the association late on Thursday night, it was informed that all the members of the bar are informed that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the sensitivity of the situation and the potential threat posed by separatist forces.

There will be no work in the High Court

The notice said that keeping in mind the safety and interests of all the bar members, there will be no work of any kind in the High Court on May 9. This decision has been taken unanimously by the association so that any untoward incident can be avoided and the law and order situation can be maintained.

It is worth noting that for the past few days, the situation in the border areas has remained tense and the power supply in Chandigarh is disrupted. Due to this, the work of the High Court has also been affected.

Pakistan targeted many places in Punjab

The army foiled the drone and missile attacks by Pakistan on Thursday night targeting military bases and residential areas in Punjab. Not only this, the army shot down a Pakistani Air Force plane in Pathankot late at night.

The Pakistani army targeted Jalandhar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Bathinda with drones and missiles. While the army destroyed two drone attacks in Jalandhar, it foiled missile and drone attacks in Pathankot. Similarly, a drone attack has been foiled in Tibri Cantt of Gurdaspur.

A cylinder-shaped object was found fallen after an explosion in the sky near Basti number four of village Beed Talab, ten kilometers from Bathinda. It is not clear whether it is a missile part or a plane. Missile-like pieces have also been found near the residential area near Kamahi Devi in Hoshiarpur. Similarly, an explosion was heard near Machaki village in Faridkot.
