This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Along with this, the cabinet has decided to install anti-drone system on the Pakistan border to curb the incidents of sending weapons and drugs from Pakistan to the state through drones.

The government will purchase anti-drone system at a cost of Rs 51.41 crore and install it on the 532 km border of the state adjoining Pakistan.

After the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan wants to spoil the atmosphere of the state along with making our youth addicted to drugs by sending drugs and weapons through drones. With the establishment of this system, Pakistan’s nefarious intentions will fail.

Rangla Punjab Fund will be established, NRIs will be able to become partners in the development of the state The cabinet has also approved the creation of ‘Rangla Punjab Fund’. In this, NRIs or any individual can contribute wholeheartedly to promote the development of infrastructure of the state.

This fund will be managed by the Finance Department and will be used to accelerate development in education, health, industry and other sectors. V-Kavach jammers will be installed in 13 high-security jails The cabinet has approved the purchase and installation of V-Kavach jammers in 13 high-security jails of the state.

The state-of-the-art jammer with 5G feature has already been successfully tested and gradually all the jails of the state will be equipped with this facility.

Establishment of new housing colonies

Land pooling policy approved, affordable housing schemes will get a boost Land pooling policy was approved to speed up affordable housing schemes and speedy development of urban estates. Under this, there will now be a simple and transparent process of buying land directly from the landowners.

This will remove the delays and legal complexities in land acquisition. New model of public participation approved The government also approved the land pooling scheme of the Housing Department. This will lead to the establishment of new housing colonies in urban areas.

Under this scheme, farmers or land owners will give their land to the government and in return they will get a share in the developed area or appropriate compensation. Under the new process, the land will be identified by a committee, which will work according to the 2011 policy of the Revenue and Rehabilitation Department.

Land owners will be invited to sell their land to the development authority or give it under the land pooling scheme. This policy will enable lakhs of people in the state to get houses at affordable rates.

Other Cabinet decisions

The Cabinet also agreed to bring an ordinance to start bullock cart racing in the state. The ordinance aims to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state through these sports, which are an integral part of Punjabi culture. A special section will be added to this ordinance to ensure that there is no cruelty to the bulls during bullock cart racing.

To emphasize on crop diversification to save groundwater, the cabinet has given its consent to cultivate Kharif maize as a pilot project in three areas of the state.

This project will be started in more than 12 thousand hectares of area in Gurdaspur-Pathankot, Bathinda, Jalandhar-Kapurthala. The state government will make strong arrangements to ensure marketing of this crop to benefit the farmers. To explore new possibilities in the mining sector, the cabinet has given the green signal to establish a state-of-the-art Center of Excellence for Mining at IIT Ropar.

This Center of Excellence will evaluate the area under mining. This center will be helpful in suggesting ways to stop illegal mining in the state through the use of artificial intelligence.

The cabinet has given its consent to bring 2053 employees in the state under the ambit of the old pension scheme, whose joining process had started before January 1, 2004. The cabinet also approved regularisation of services of about 900 employees of the forest department.

Approval was also given to transfer 135 acres of land of the Housing Construction Department in Faridkot to the Industries Department. This land actually belonged to the cooperative sugar mill and was transferred to the Housing Construction Department under the OUVGL scheme.
