Chandigarh Court has sentenced a youth to 20 years in jail in the case of rape of a 12-year-old minor girl. Along with this, a fine of Rs 70 thousand has also been imposed on him. The case is of August 14, 2023, when the victim left the house saying that she was going to buy a flag and then went missing. The court has also recommended the District Legal Services Authority to give compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the victim girl.
According to the information, Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Dhanas, snatched Rs 100 from a 12-year-old girl. After buying liquor with this money, he took the girl to the jungles of Khudda Lahora and raped her there. Regarding this, the girl’s mother had lodged a complaint at Sarangpur police station.
Investigation revealed that when the woman reached Dhanas searching for her daughter, she saw the daughter holding hands with the accused. On seeing the mother, the accused fled from the spot. During interrogation, the girl revealed the entire incident.
In a complaint lodged at Sarangpur police station on August 14, 2023, the woman said that her youngest daughter is 12 years old and studies in class 7. The woman told that on the morning of August 14, her daughter took Rs 100 from her, saying that she wanted to buy a flag for Independence Day. After taking the money, the daughter left the house at around 7 am, but she did not return.
When she reached Dhanas Lake while searching for her daughter, she saw her daughter coming towards Dhanas Lake from Khudda Lahora with a boy. The boy was holding her daughter’s hand. He ran away from the spot as soon as he saw her. When asked about the boy, the daughter told that when she had gone to a religious place in the morning, a boy came to her there.
Forcibly snatched the 100 rupees she had and held her hand. The accused youth bought liquor worth Rs 50 and returned the remaining amount to her. He then took her to the forest area of Khudda Lahora, where he drank alcohol and forcibly raped her.
